the sprites change sizes too much... holy shit
also, please at least finish one stage before you send a tutorial game on here. or at least maybe put that it is a beta in title in description.

TendajiGamez responds:

Yea, I intended it to be giant for the memes. I will make a full/second version with more carnage. Hope to see your review.

I believe you do have a solid base here. However, I am only giving you 3 stars since this game's upgrades feel way too overpowered. I think it has to do with the fact that there is no progression towards enemy spawns. You just often get the red circle crowd spawn way too often, which gives a lot of money for a short time. Because of this, you get money super quickly and it doesn't feel rewarding.
The regeneration upgrade also is too overpowered. It gives lives at a way too fast rate to the point where I am at 33 lives. Even with the one hit enemies, it still feels too easy difficulty wise once I get the piercing upgrade. Maybe enemies that require two or three more hits even with the upgrade would at least add some challenge to this game. As it stands now, there isn't much incentive to continue trying since the game is too easy.
I will give you props for the graphics though. It's definitely not a masterpiece, but I do like the old-school flash aesthetic, and I'd say you nailed it here.

Overview for this messy review: Either raise the upgrade prices, limit the fire rate, or make enemies take more hits, and I would say you got a good game here. Keep on going at it, you got potential.

XaiverXD responds:

I'll make a third version with more stuff and way longer gameplay. I'll make waves for better progression and add a title, difficulties, and way more ideas I'm going to keep hidden for more surprise later. I knew regen was OP and I am going to make the max health 15.

i suck at this game :(

I'm glad I was able to pee on Kim Possible~

I am curious though, is it actually possible to click on the area, or am I doing it wrong? I keep on trying to press Escape to exit out and click that way, but it doesn't work. Unless there is something I am not getting, can you tell me how to click on that area?

ZabuJard responds:

Yes if you click the area above the toilet it makes a flushing sound! Kim Pissible*

I find this really promising so far! It definitely captures the feel of Animal Crossing and is pretty fun to play.
Gameplay-wise, it's mostly solid and enjoyable. However, I do not like how you dump things personally. Turning the basket upside-down and having to push items to fall into the can is not only finicky, but you can end up losing an item or two. A possible idea I have is whenever you hold down the spacebar, it tips the basket diagonally and makes the items slide off the basket. One thing that would be nice is being able to exit out of the collecting game. Once you click "Collect", you can't exit out of there until time runs out, which would be a problem if you accidentally click it. I haven't come across any bugs in this area, but Mott's basket position is too low. You don't have to even dump the basket; the items just fall right into the can. Other than those things, it's definitely nice.
As for the pachinko machine, it's alright. It's just regular pachinko with a nice Animal Crossing skin to go with it. However, I came across a bug where I accidentally got two items in one run. Whenever the coin hit the wall of a REALLY big item, it ended up grabbing the item behind the wall also. I don't know how, but it did. Maybe try coding the items so they can fit whatever size within the hole. Besides that bug, it was functional.
Graphics-wise, it's okay. I do want to see more animation, like walking animations in the collecting game. With all the still images in this game, it ends up looking a bit rigid and still. The game does still look decent otherwise, and I honestly love the additional touch of changing the graphics once you change to a different music mix. It makes me happy inside.
Overall, despite the few bugs, I definitely enjoyed this game! I can't wait to see what other things you'll add to this game in the future. Please keep it up!

larrynachos responds:

Thank you for your feedback, I'm glad you found it enjoyable! I am still working on an alternative to the current dumping mechanic, but personally I have no problem with it. I do see where you're coming from though. There is a particular hole in the pachinko machine that will let you hit two prizes. I sloppily made each prize bigger because of an earlier bug where you could sometimes miss the prize entirely, but this was the result. It only happens with certain prizes, as I'm using different image frames within a single game object. Once the pachinko is a little more mathematically aligned, I'll probably fix up the prizes so they don't overlap. Until then, enjoy the lucky bonus! I'm also planning on adding some interactive elements to the pachinko machine like pinball flapper thingies you can control.

The art is pretty much just pngs of official animal crossing renders, so I can't do much in terms of animating them individually. I guess I could add a little wobble effect to give the illusion of movement at least, thanks for the suggestion!

For me, this gets only 1 star for several reasons.
One, the game is SO BUGGY!! There have been several times where when I walked over to the edges of the screen, I disappear/possibly fell out. I can still shoot, but I can't see myself anymore, and I can't get back on the screen. I have to refresh the page every time this happened, which was about # TIMES. When I was playing this again during this review, I came across a bug that just freezes the screen when I die, but enemies still spawn, albeit frozen in place, with each sprite overlapping each other. I don't think I got a game over screen yet.
Two, this game is WAY TOO EASY. You move way too fast, and you can close all the doors in just a couple of seconds. You have to purposefully sit there until the door opens in order to do something once you close all of the doors.
Three, there is not a scoring system of any kind. No amount of enemies killed, no timer, nothing. Just nothing...
Four, there isn't music. This is more of a nitpick, but it would've been nice with some music.
However, one thing I'll give you credit for is the graphics. They do look really nice, and the character designs are pretty adorable! I have no idea why the title of the game "Gate to Hades" is not on the upload and is instead just called "Arcade Game", but I digress. I wish there were some death animations, but I'll take whatever I can with these graphics.
Overall, PLEASE FIX THE BUGS.
And add a scoring system, please.
Edit: Ahhhhhh, okay. I think you should've shared it privately or put a disclaimer in the description because I thought that this was a finished project you put out. Sorry, my bad.

CoderAddict responds:

Sorry, this wasn't meant to be played. Just sharing with my partner for making this game.
Edit: you can play the game now. It is done.
